Tracy and Jeremy came to meet Nico this weekend. We had a wonderful time! We can't wait to introduce him to Addy.

We Love This Outfit!
David and I love this outfit that Aunt Ashley got Nico...Nico apparently doesn't :). The shirt says "Hi! I'm new here." and has a picture of the earth...haha! Nico was pretty fussy today so I took his temperature and he had one of 100.6. I stripped him down and took it again. 100.4. Our doctor said if he had a temp of 100.5 to come in to the office. We took him but he didn't have a fever when we got there. After much thought, our doc decided to wait it out. If he has something he will get worse. She just told us to keep an eye on him. So that was the excitement for the day!

Nico has a Belly Button!
Nico FINALLY lost his umbilical cord today! So David and I were able to give Nico a real bath. He seemed to like it OK at first. He did get mad toward the end, though.
I also wanted to thank Cat for coming over to rescue me today. Nico was extremely fussy, clingy and hungry today and it really got to me. Cat came over to tend to Nico while I took a much needed nap. Thanks Cat!
First Trip to Alabama
We took Nico to Huntsville (and Madison) yesterday to meet his great grandmothers and family friends. First we went to my Granny's. She was so tickled to meet Nico. She almost wouldn't let us leave...we practically had to pry him out of her arms! Then we went to David's MeeMaw's house. Needless to say she was excited to meet Nico, as well. After that we went over to David's parents' house. Pat Williams, all of the Koswoski's, Sarah, Adam and Emma, Roger, Aunt Julie and Angela (The Monger's neighbor) all came to pay a visit. Finley was so cute. She kept asking what baby Nico was doing. It was a long day for the little man. He slept all the way home!
Babbo and Vicki
My dad (We're calling him Babbo for now. His name is Bob and Babbo Natale is Italian for Santa Claus so it seemed somewhat appropriate:)), and his girlfriend Vicki came to visit last week. They brought lots of goodies for Nico. We didn't do much. We hung out at the house mostly. They did take us to Red Lobster on Saturday...yummy :) On Sunday they came with us to have Nico's one month photos done at Sears. That was an ordeal. Our appointment was at 11am and we left the studio at 12:30. We had a diaper change and a feeding in that time frame. I felt bad for the people after us. We still aren't on a schedule. I've heard it is harder to get breastfed babies on a schedule because they digest breast milk faster than formula...oh well!
Gratitude
I am so thankful to have such a wonderful husband. All of you know what an awesome guy David is. David has been amazing during this crazy, wonderful, frustrating and amazing time in our lives...which I had no doubt about. He always knows just what to do when little Nico is upset...when I feel like nothing I am doing makes him stop crying. David does more than is expected when it comes to just about everything. Nico is no exception. At a time when I feel unattractive, David tells me how good I look. I am not gloating. I just wanted to take a minute to express my gratitude. I love you, David...more than anything...now more than ever.

Happy St. Patty's Day!
Happy St. Patrick's Day! Here are a few pictures of our little leprechaun! Aunt Ashley is on spring break and is here visiting. Gabby also came up to bring us some goodies. The ones of him in green were taken today by us. The others were taken when Nico was 10 days old by our friend Krystal...she is a professional photographer...which explains the difference in the quality ;)

Thanks Gabby!
David's mom, AKA Gabby, left today :( She has been here helping out since Tuesday and was she a HUGE help?!?! Late night, after I would feed Nico, Gabby would come and rock him, change his diaper and whatever else he needed until he went back to sleep. She really helped turn a long process into a simple task...at least for me :) I know David really appreciated it, too. He was able to sleep the entire night. Also, today before she left we took some pictures of Nico in the outfit that David wore home from the hospital when he was a baby. In one of the pictures you can see the photo of David in the same outfit. Both were taken at 3 weeks of age. Hard to believe Nico has been here for 3 weeks!!!

First Doctor's Appointment
Nico had his first doctor's appointment today. He weighs 8lbs. 1oz. He has grown 2.5" and is now 22" long. He has been having some problems sleeping at night. The doctor said she thought he still had his days and nights mixed up. When I was pregnant and up moving around all day it would rock him to sleep and when I slept and was still he would be awake. So we have to work on that. She also said it may be gas, but there are drops for that. The doctor said he was perfect, but we already knew that!!!

Thanks Giggy!
On Saturday David and I went on our first date since Nico was born. My mom, AKA Giggy, came over and watched Nico while we went to dinner (sushi...yummy) and then to Baskin Robbins. It was nice...I even had a small glass of wine. Nico slept the whole time we were gone. The pictures I posted are of Nico being entertained by Mattie while David and I got ready. I know some of you are wondering how Mattie is adjusting with little Nico. She is doing suprisingly well. The first night she was really anxious (as we all were) and would get up everytime we got up. Now she is pretty much back to her usual lazy self and stays in bed when we get up to feed/check on Nico. Every once in a while she will get excited when Nico cries out, but other than that she is doing great!

It's a boy!!!
Hello everyone! Welcome to Nico's blog. I guess this is the best way to keep everyone up-to-date with anything and everything Nico. As most of you know by now, David and I had a little boy back on February 22. His name is Nico (knee-co) Mayes Monger. He weighed in at 7lbs. 7oz. and was 19.5 inches. My labor and delivery went very smoothly. My water broke at 8am on the 22nd and Nico was born at 8:05pm...12 hours...not too bad. Our stay at the hospital was a very emotional one. Nico's biliruben count was high (this causes jaundice) due to the fact that our blood types were incompatible. So Nico had to stay in the phototherapy gizmo in the nursery. He was only able to visit us when it was time for him to nurse which was once every three hours for only 30 minutes. We actually had to stay an extra day because the levels didn't get as low as the pediatrician would have liked. This would have been fine except they mistakenly told us that we were going to get to go home the day before. Anyway, we are all good now. We are home and trying to get adjusted to our new life as a family.
