Memorial Day 2009...

We had a great Memorial Day. We met Jack, Sam and Jax at the Bicentennial Mall downtown. It was really nice. There were several war memorials there, so it was fitting for the day. It was a hot day so he water features gave us a nice break from the heat.
Nico liked this big "ball". The water at the bottom kept the globe constantly rotating. It was pretty cool.
He saw a "doggie".
He didn't really know what to think of the dancing fountains/water spout things at first. After he saw all of the other kids having a good time he got into it.
Surprise!!!
After we dried him off and changed his clothes, we all went to Joe's Crab Shack for a snack. He had ketchup for the first time...he loved it, of course! Sam's supposed to get me the pics. I'll post the ASAP.

Petting Zoo...

Last Friday Nico and I went to he zoo with some friends. He had a great time at the petting zoo exhibit.
Looking so cute!!!
Check out those horns! Yikes!
Gentle, please!
Nico looking, longingly, at a ball that the goats had in their pen.
"Ball, ball, ball, ball, ball"
He really wanted the ball. When he first started saying ball, I thought he was making goat sounds. I was really confused because I don't think I ever told him what a goat sounds like.

More to Come...

Blogger's not letting me download images. I have a couple more posts. Check back soon!

Swimming Play Date...

Last week we headed over to a friend's for our first swimming play date of the summer. Nico likes the water, but his attention span is very small. He stayed in the pool for about 5 minutes! Here, he is hugging a bath toy. His hugs are so sweet. He hugs almost everything! He'll hold whatever to his face and say, "Aaaawwwwww".

Happy Mother's Day...

I had a wonderful second Mother's Day. We went to mom's for brunch and a small photo shoot. Then we headed home so that Nico could take a nap. I finished my book (Memoirs of a Geisha, in case you're wondering) and then we headed to Mellow Mushroom for dinner.
The Monger Family
Giggy, Nico and momma
I love this little guy!

Fun with Cool Whip...

The title says it all...

Nico's First Trip to the Beach...

We took Nico down to the beach for the first time earlier this month. We headed down with Jeremy, Tracy and Addy after we attended Jake and Katie's wedding in Auburn. We decided to car pool and that provided a lot of entertainment. Think clown car and two kids sounding like broken records. I must say that riding down together was one of my favorite parts of the short vacation. It was pretty nice when we first arrived so we headed out as soon as we could. Nico was OK with the sand, but wasn't too fond of the waves washing up on his feet. The water was pretty cold, so I don't blame him.
So cute in his beach attire!
Day 2: The Monger family on the balcony at the condo.
It rained and/or was cloudy pretty much all day the second (and last) day we were there :( We did manage to get in the pool early in the morning. Nico LOVED the pool...maybe because someone left a ball. We also headed out to the beach for some after dinner fun. You can't tell from this picture, but Nico wasn't too sure of the wet sand at first, but he was eventually OK with it.
This heron was making it's way to a fisherman's bucket to steal a fish or two. It was a hilarious site. He would slowly sneak up on the guy and if he turned around the bird would walk away quickly. I don't think the poor bird ever got a fish.
Getting a little braver.
