Obama...

Nico and I were in line at the grocery store the other day and President Obama was on the cover of a magazine. I proceeded to show Nico his picture and told him that his name was Obama. He mocked me by saying, "Obama", clear as day. I kept asking him to repeat it and he did. A little while later I asked him who the president of the US was. I answered for him the first time and he took it from there :) I love when I ask him in the video to say "Bye-bye", he waits and then says, "Bye truck", and puts the truck he's playing with into the bucket...what a character!!!

Fun in the Sun FINALLY...

We have been tearing up the playgrounds lately!!! After 2 or so weeks of rain, we had to get outside and enjoy this fall weather. Here are a couple of photos I got while Nico was climbing and sliding. He is such a monkey, so it really took a lot for me to get these. Usually I am chasing him around to make sure he doesn't fall and crack his head open :)

Babbo and Timmy...

My dad, Babbo, and his fiancée, Tammy, came for a quick visit on Sunday. We took advantage of the beautiful weather and headed out to Centennial Park to walk around, feed the ducks and play on the playground. Nico took right to both, Babbo and Timmy, as Nico calls Tammy. Even today he was asking for them. We'll be heading to Knoxville in a couple of weeks for their wedding. Nico is going to be a ring bearer again!!!
This is the best shot out of three. What are you going to do?!?!

Memphis...

Nico and I tagged along with David for his monthly trip to Memphis. It was a nice change of scenery. Nico had a lot of fun exploring the hotel suite and entertaining the hotel staff. Even though it rained the whole time, we did get out to take in the sites. We visited the zoo. We were able to see lots of animals that the Nashville zoo doesn't have. The rain held off for the hour and a half we were there. Also, while at the zoo, Nico rode his first train! He really enjoyed that, too. We also ventured downtown to see the ducks at the famous Peabody Hotel. I got lost while driving down there and was honestly afraid for our lives...we (just me and Nico, I remind you) ended up in some very sketchy places. We finally got to the hotel just in time to see the ducks make their way back up to their room. I had never seen it before either...it was so neat! As soon as the ducks got on the elevator, Nico lost it! He was upset that they had to go, I guess. He cried all the way through the lobby, "Quack, quack"! Broke my heart, but it was kind of cute :)
This is how I got everything (including Nico) back out to the car while David was at work. So much stuff when you travel with a babe! Nico is saying cheese!
Wanting so badly to touch the ducks!

Greek Festival 2009...

Nico and I went with mom, Cat and Ashley to the annual Greek Festival last weekend. We went last year and had a blast, so I guess this is a tradition, now. It's really fun. There's lots of yummy food, Greek music and dancing. There's also tons of stuff for kids to do-petting zoo, pony rides and inflatables.
Nico on the dance floor watching the band...he's about to bust a move!
Feeding the cute little goat. Right after this picture was taken, the cup of food fell out of his hand and onto the ground!

"Auburn"...

We have been conditioning Nico for football season. The other day, I had on my Auburn shirt and he pointed at it and said, "Auburn". No, he can't read, but anytime I wear the shirt I ask him what it says. Repetition does work-almost too well. Everything says "Auburn" now...signs, shirts, books...you name it. It's cute, though!

The Little Things...

Nico, Giggy and I headed out to the beach early Monday morning before we (David, Nico and I) hit the road to head back to Nashville. The beach was pretty empty. It was nice just to sit there and breathe in the ocean air, listen to the waves hitting the shore and feeling the warm breeze on our faces. Even though the vacation was a whirlwind and a lot of road time, it was totally worth it. Sometimes you need a breather from everyday life to enjoy all of the little things in life. It's the little things that mean the most and, so often, are the ones that easily get pushed aside when things get crazy. Thanks big, beautiful ocean, for putting everything back into perspective. See you next year.
So happy I caught this sweet moment.
Look at those eyes!!!

Rainy Day at the Beach...

We had one full day at the beach and this is what we got!!! RAIN!!! Lots of rain!!! It actually looked OK when we headed out, but that didn't last long. We headed back to the house. It was pouring by the time we got home. Nico decided he was going to get wet!!! He headed out to the porch. He had a blast playing in the rain! We had a blast watching him!
Splish, splash.
Thirsty?
So happy!
The rain was surprisingly cold.
We headed inside for a warm bath and dry clothes. Nico found the Connect Four game. I know Giggy brought the game for adults to play with, but Nico really enjoyed it :)
Dinner at Franco's
Still can't get him to smile on cue!

"Nice"...

Mom rented a beach house in Gulf Shores, AL for the week of Labor Day. Our family headed down to enjoy the long weekend with them. I bought a new float and was telling mom about it. She looked it over and said, "Nice". Then the rest of the trip, anytime Nico saw the float he said, "Nice"...he's such a little parrot these days!!! We really have to watch what we say!

Lala's Birthday Festivities...

We celebrated Ashley's 24th birthday earlier this week. Sunday night (her actual birthday was Monday), we went to mom's for pizza, cake and ice cream...YUM-O! Then last night we went to a Sounds baseball game. It was Nico's first game and he had a ball...pun intended :) We all took turns chasing Nico up and down the bleachers of General Admission.
Nico just couldn't pull himself away from his cake and ice cream to pose with Lala!
Yum. Yum.

We tried getting Nico to look up at the camera by asking him where the moon is. Smarty pants.
